Drank from Finger Bowl
Passengers on train No. 16's dining car saw a very amusing stunt last night. A diner who had been served was brought a finger bowl filled with water which was left beside him while the waiter placed his check on the table. The man picked up the finger bowl and drank the contents at a gulp. The colored waiter never even cracked a smile, but went after another finger bowl full of water, while other passengers looked closely at their fish to keep from laughing. As soon as the second bowl was brought in the man thanked the waiter and raised that to his lips, drinking the second as though he enjoyed it The waiter then without smiling pushed the check forward and waited for his tip.

Killed by Train
H. C. Nickson, colored, was found on the track near Northfork Sunday morning about 4:30. The man had been struck during the night by some passing train, but when found was still alive. In spite of surgical attention, however, he died about 7:30 o'clock. His home was at Statesville, N. C.

Pullman Car Derailed
The Kenova Pullman car was derailed last night in the yard just ahead of train No. 3 when it was being pushed down to be attached on that train. As a result train No. 3 was held up in the yard for nearly fifty minutes while the car was being put on the track. A peculiar feature of the derailment was that the car was derailed in such a way that No. 3 could not pass and had to wait until the car could be replaced on the track.

Corn Liquor in Demand
The Hawks Liquor Company's distillery at Crystal was registered out yesterday for a week or so because of the fact that the demand for corn whiskey has been so great during the holidays that freight trains could not bring in the ingredients fast enough for the making of the stuff. Deputy Collector White said last night that the plant will start up as soon as stock arrives
