Shenandoah Valley line

When did the former N&W's Shenandoah Valley line receive the "H-line"
status? I suspect it dates back at least to the early 20th century but
don't have anything definitive to lean for corroboration.

I know that various other railroad lines use similar nomenclature and
know that at least Southern was using that style back in the early
20th century as I have seen references deliberately referencing things
that way.
