TONS OF STEEL RAILS
------
Norfolk and Western Places Big Order to be Used on Double-Tracking
A dispatch from Cincinnati says that the Norfolk and Western has ordered 15,000 tons of 100-pound rails for 1911 delivery. It is understood that these rails will be laid on the new double track sections in Ohio to take care of the big increase in coal movements. The 100-pound rail is a decided innovation for the Norfolk and Western, as it has always maintained that an 85-pound rail was heavy enough for its traffic.
------
[What is the weight of rail used predominately on NS today? 136 lb./yard?]
