Northfork - Realignment?

Link made a daylight photo of the same location as his night shot of the Y6b passing the bank at Northfork. Based on that and recent track charts, I believe the photo was made almost exactly at MP N-386, which would be just past the start of a 3-46 curve to the right heading east.

Given the main line curve in the photo, the one place that COULD match up in the attached image is along the tangent very close to the "Northfork" label at the east end of town, but there does not appear to be remains of buildings here to support it. Can this map help illustrate the approximate location or am I way off?
Thank you,

The stores on the either side of Elkhorn Creek were in two distinct communities. The railroad ran through Northfork which is where the rr station was located. The community on the other side of Elkhorn Creek was Clark. The communities were merged around 1947 and both became known as Northfork.
The rr main line alignment at Northfork is generally as it was when it was put in around 1893 if you ignore the coaling station and sidings that have been removed.

Veterans,
O.W.Link had taken a beautiful photo of downtown Northfork showing the mainline passing nearly directly in front of the 'business district' along side of the main drag through town.
Reference "Steam, Steel & Stars" shortly inside the front cover.
Looking at Northfork today from arial images, it is not clear where Link framed this scene. The east portion of town does not seem to 'fit' at all, and the west portion of town seems to show perhaps the remaining tight row of business buildings. But now, the waterway lies BETWEEN the main line and the buildings.
So, I pose to you two questions:
Where approximately did Mr Link frame this image?
Was the main line ever realigned to the other side of the waterway to get it off E Main Street?
Thank you,
Dave Willis
