Woodchip cars at North Winston yard

John,

The woodchip cars are interchanged with the Yadkin Valley Railroad. Empties are picked up at North Winston and head northwest through Rural Hall and down the former Southern "K-Line" to the Louisiana-Pacific hardboard siding plant in Roaring River, NC just east of North Wilkesboro.

This facility is visible at maps.google.com (just type in Roaring River, NC, zoom in and follow the line a little west).

The chips are shipped back down the YVRR to be interchanged with NS at North Winston Yard.

Hi Lister’s,

I was just looking at North Winston yard on
Bing.com with the “bird’s-eye view” and saw four loaded and
one empty Southern jumbo size woodchip cars. Anybody know where they go to or
where they come from?

Thanks in advance, John Hecker
