ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY
------
Engineer and Fireman Jump When Crown Sheet of Engine Blows Out

Engineer I. A. Philpot and Fireman P. H. Dunn had a narrow escape from serious injury yesterday morning about 6 o'clock near Sands, when the crown sheet on an engine blew out. Both the engineer and fireman were able to escape serious burns by jumping. Engineer Philpot had his neck and chin slightly injured while Firemen Dunn had an ankle broken. Mr. Dunn was brought to this city, where his ankle was treated at the Bluefield Sanatorium. Both men make their homes in this city and are well known.
