Following is from a hysterical plaque on US 460-

??????????????????????????????????? CONCORD DEPOT

"The Southside Railroad provided service at Concord in 1854

when the track was completed from Petersburg to Lynchburg.

During the Civil War, these rail lines were important for troops and

supplies.? On 11 June (no year stated), seven days before the

Battle of Lynchburg, Union army forces were dispatched from

Brig.General Willard Averell's Second Calvary Division to

destroy rail and telegraph lines in the region.? On 14 June

(again, no year mentioned), the Federals burned Concord

Depot, a train, a portion of the track and other railroad

structures.? They then marched toward Rustburg."

And remember, in the 1860's, the main line Phoebe to

to Lynchburg through Concord (Six-Mile, etc.) was?THE (one and

only)??route.
