LAST STEEL BEING LAID
------
Winding Gulf Branch of Virginian to Be Opened by First of Year

The Virginian Railway is finishing laying steel on the Winding Gulf branch and it is expected that the road will be operated by the first of the year as was originally planned. The road is also ordering a large number of new cars which will be of special design for use on the company's piers at Sewells Point where arrangements have been made by which machinery will pick up the cars and dump them as fast as they can be run onto the pier. The pier is the most modern owned by any railroad and will greatly reduce the cost of handling coal at the coast terminal.
