TALKS OF YESTERDAY

Faster Trains Demanded

The Norfolk and Western will have to put on a faster train was the assertion made by a railroad man last night. The Chesapeake and Ohio has put on a train from Norfolk to Chicago which makes the run in 26 hours. The Norfolk and Western makes the run in 36 hours. This means a loss of passengers and possibly mail, and the Norfolk and Western will have to meet the fast time. To that end a number of new passenger engines have been gotten and a schedule, it is said, will be arranged and a train run from Norfolk to Chicago that will compete with the ?? flyer. It is rumored that No. 15 will leave Norfolk about 11 o'clock p. m., and by cutting out the stops and speeding up a little can save three hours in the run to Bluefield, arriving here about 9 o'clock the next morning. This train is expected to turn the Chicago trick. The ?? train leaves Norfolk at 4 p. m., and there is only one night between Norfolk and the Windy city. Quite an inducement to through passengers.

[As usual there was some blurring on the microfilm. One word was undecipherable in two places as indicated by "??." The best interpretation of numbers is shown.]
