FIRST PASSENGER TRAIN ON WINDING GULF
------
Makes Round Trip From Mullins [sic] to Patterson Daily Meeting Through Trains at Mullins

According to advices from Mullins on the Virginian, the first passenger train on the Winding Gulf branch from Mullins to the coalfields was run on a regular schedule yesterday. The conductor of the train was W. E. Francis and the engineer A. H. Wiley, both formerly in the Norfolk and Western service at Bluefield. The train makes a round trip from Mullins to Patterson daily and meets Mos. 13 and 14 on the main line at Mullins.
Since the opening of the branch to the Winding Gulf coal fields, there has been a big improvement in business and various coal operations in the new territory are preparing to enter the shipping list.
