Also, the scene shows a car with a Maryland license plate and the depot
stop is "Ardmore". Google maps doesn't show an Ardmore Maryland. Can
anyone identify where Ardmore on the C&O or N&W might be?

The stand-in for the fictional town of Ardmore, MD was Keswick, VA
on C&O's Washington Subdivision.  Seems "Giant" was filmed circa
1958.  By that time C&O did NOT have a serviceable steam locomotive
for the 1920's era, so Eng 100 was slightly retouched.  Kinda
strange since C&O had no tracks in Maryland. Must have been 
another of C&O's p.r. schemes.
