IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Heavy Express Shipments
No. 15, west bound passenger train, pulled in the Norfolk and Western passenger station in Bluefield exactly on time yesterday morning, but when it left it was fourteen minutes late, and the reason for the delay was the immense amount of express matter which had to be loaded for the coalfields. The express handled by the company at this point is unusually heavy, and it appears that there is a healthy increase in the business.
------
[Remember, there had been a banking panic in 1907 with severely depressed business (sound familiar?) which lasted into 1909, so any increase in business was noteworthy.]
