IN CITY AND COALFIELD
Pennsylvania Does Not Control
In an interview, President L. E. Johnson, of the Norfolk and Western Railway Company, said that there would be no change in the management of the Norfolk and Western Railway because of the recent purchase of $19,000,000 Norfolk and Western stock by the Pennsylvania Railway [sic] Company. Mr. Johnson added that the Pennsylvania does not control the Norfolk and Western. He would not say, of course, if the Pennsylvania would buy more Norfolk and Western stock.
Railroad Officials Here
L. E. Johnson, president of the Norfolk and Western, arrived in the city last night on train No. 3 in his private car and was joined here by General Manager N. D. Maher, whose car was attached to No. 17. The gentlemen spent the night here and will leave this morning on a special for Bostick, which is on the southern end of the Carolina, Clinchfield and Ohio.
