The segment between MP N-642 and N-652 (Omega to Lunbeck) was single-tracked
in May 1959. The segment through Chillicothe was single-tracked sometime
later, perhaps 1960.
The "grand plan" at that time was to continue single-tracking large portions
of the Columbus District, but when plans for the N&W-NKP-WAB merger
developed, management realized that the Columbus District would no doubt see
an increase in traffic, so the project was not continued.
