Mr. Meyers: If the brass handle is about 7" long and has a square hole in
the end (and it should) it is his brake handle and not the throttle.
Steam locomotives typically had no brake handle so only the hostler or
engine men could release the brakes and move an engine.

Thank you for this information, it is more than I've had. I found the
accident report. I have heard there was an article written not that many
years ago in an Ohio newspaper and had also heard it was a serial in one of
the older magazines like "Dectective" perhaps. I am continuing to search for
these. If there was some way to share the photos of the wreck, that would be
good as have never been able to locate that. I have a photo of 133 from
1930. Our family knows about the wreck but not details like these. My sister
met a distant cousin a number of years ago who is in possesion of J. H.
Myers' brass throttle handle.
