Freight Train on Virginian

It will be interesting to Bluefielders to know that the Virginian railroad is now running a train regularly between Roanoke and Big Stony [ apparently this is the point later known as Norcross, so named because of the grade crossing with the N&W's Big Stony Railroad, which became the N&W's Potts Valley branch.]. This is a local freight and is operated for the accommodation of those who wish to ship freight from one point to another along the line between the two points named.
The track laying west of Roanoke has been completed with the exception of the small section that will extend over the New River on the New River bridge, which structure has not yet been completed.
East of Roanoke about fifteen miles of track are yet to be laid.
