CONTRACT FOR LARGEST COAL PIER IN THE WORLD
------
Will Be Erected at Sewell's Point, Deepwater Terminus of Virginian

The contract for the construction of the largest coal pier in the world has been awarded by the Virginian Railway to A. M. Walkup, contractor of Richmond. It is to be erected at Sewells Point, the Deepwater terminus of the road. The road proposes to handle more coal than all other Virginia roads combined. Some idea of the extent of the work can be gathered from the statement that there are nine coal piers on the Virginia seaboard, the dimensions of which in combination will be exceeded by the Virginian pier. The owners of the Virginian system are headed by H. H. Rogers and John D. Rockefeller. The road will also carry a great deal of oil.
