Last N&W diesel heading to scrap

The Electrification is now extended to Long Branh, right across the
street from Monmouth
Medical Center. At the time of "The Last Run of the GG1" the overhead
was to Matawan,
so that's where the change was taking place at that time. The K4 that
had been at Horseshoe Curve and was restored supposedly was there
because the NY&LB was the last places
they were run.

The engine change had become from GG1's to E8's, many from Southern or
the odd
GP40 variant that NJDOT had bought. Now it's change trains at Long
Branch for Elberon,
Asbury Park and Points South (RR West).

And I remember the 'circus trains' of used GN cars, blue & green,
operated by Conrail
before New Jersey Transit Rail Operations took over and straightened the
mess out.
That took lots of government $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

And Ft Monmouth (also my Alma Mater) is due to close, maybe 2011. Then
I'll have to
drive out to Navy Earle in Colts Neck for my 'services'.

are now gone!).
