Looking at the pictures of the locomotive it appears that most, if not all,
of the boiler jacket had been removed along with any insulation that would
have been under it. This would mean that any loose asbestos on the exterior
of the locomotive was gone. If any remains inside the locomotive it could
be safely handled in Ohio. Also Bev Fitzpatrick, VMT, appeared on WDBJ
saying that he was glad that the locomotive was being saved and hoped that
some of the remaining equipment could be saved as well.
