Berryville — Judge Thomas W. Harrison, from the Circuit Bench in Berryville this morning, delivered verbally an opinion which upholds the validity of the local option election held here on Sept. 17, and which resulted in a victory of the "dry" ticket by a majority of 42 votes.
A large and interested crowd of spectators thronged the courtroom, awaiting with eager interest and curiosity the result of the contest.
On the night of Dec. 17, after the day’s business is over, the five saloons in Berryville will be closed by order of the court, the vote of the people having decreed that they shall no longer continue in business.
The closing of the saloons, at Berryville, will make all the towns "dry" between Roanoke and Charles Town, on the Norfolk & Western Railway.
