Bluefield Daily Telegraph
March 12, 1904
[Although it would seem odd that traveling passenger agents would call on such a small location as Bluefield, other articles in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph indicate why. These articles for 1903 and 1904 state that most of the time Bluefield was a close second to Roanoke in terms of passenger traffic originated, and at times even exceeded Roanoke's passenger traffic. Actually, Bluefield was the commercial center for most of the Pohahontas coal field, so there was a lot of passenger traffic to and from "Nature's Air Conditioned City."]
