DYNAMITE THAWING CAUSES AWFUL TRAGEDY
------
One Man's Body Literally Torn to Pieces by the Frightful Explosion
------
While thawing dynamite over a fire Dick Davenport was instantly killed and Wallace Johnson was fatally injured. The accident occurred on the Norfolk and Western Big Sandy extension in the deep cut that is being made just back of Kenova.
The dynamite had frozen during the night, and Johnson and Davenport were thawing it over an open fire preparatory to setting off a blast. [Remainder of article omitted here.]

[If OSHA had been around, they probably would not have bothered even to investigate the cause.]
