Work Being Pushed Rapidly All Along the Line, Says Mr. Kee

   Mr. John Kee, of Norfolk, chief counsel of the Virginian Railroad, 
who spent yesterday in Roanoke, stated in reply to a query, that the 
work of laying the track was now being pushed ahead at three 
different points on the road. One gang of men is engaged in laying 
rails near Brookneal and is coming west in the direction of Roanoke. 
Another gang is at work east of Princeton, W. Va., and is moving 
east, or towards Roanoke, and the third gang of men is rushing 
matters just east of Roanoke and moving in the direction of 
Brookneal, and just as soon as they meet the force that is working 
from the latter place, the line from Roanoke to Norfolk will be completed.
   "How long do you think it will be before trains are running into 
Roanoke?" asked the reporter.
   "Trains from Norfolk will reach Roanoke before those from the 
west." replied Mr. Kee, "and I think the first train from Norfolk 
will arrive here some time about the middle of August."
   Mr. Kee explained that the laying of track had to be regulated to 
a considerable extent by the installation of bridges, several of 
which are now in course of construction.
