N&W To Furlough 28 More Friday

   The layoff of 28 more Roanoke employes was announced yesterday by 
the Norfolk and Western Railway.
   The employes - all workers in the locomotive department of the 
east end shops - will be furloughed at the close of business Friday. 
They were given notice yesterday.
   Over 500 Roanoke employes have now been laid off since Nov. 15 by the N&W.
   A continued decline in business is the reason for the layoffs, a 
company spokesman said.
