Roanoke Times - January 25, 1908
   A citizen of Hinton, who has been closely identified with the 
plans of the Virginian railway, formerly styled the 
Deepwater-Tidewater, to reach the rich coal fields, declared in 
positive terms that the Virginian railroad would be built through 
West Hinton just as soon as financial conditions improved 
sufficiently to provide funds. This extension will be from the mouth 
of East River on the main line from Deepwater to Norfolk, to the 
Piney coal fields via West Hinton and Prince.
   The citizen himself sold the charter and rights of way over this 
route secured by him for a railroad line, to the Virginian people, 
and is entirely familiar with their plans for developing this 
important territory.
   The Pennsylvania Lumber Co. has built a lumber road down Bluestone 
river to its mouth, five miles above Hinton on New river, and this 
road has been tendered the Virginian to operate, which they will 
shortly accept, building their line on through from the mouth of 
Bluestone to the Raleigh coal fields at once, and later complete the 
link between the mouths of Bluestone and East river. -- Bluefield Telegraph
