Simple Enough

An outside wheel as shown in the photo is easy enough to do,chain the
truck to the car so that it lifts with the car, jack the car ,roll out
the old wheel and roll in the new wheel. But an inside wheel is harder to
do because you have to jack the car and then roll the truck from under
the car to do the wheel change out.It also takes two jacks to lift the
car,one on each side of the car.
Even though it looks easy jacking railroad cars is a dangerous
job, especially on line of road as shown here.

Thought others might be interested to see how simple it is to change-out
a
wheel set under a caboose. Simple that is, once there is a stout
hydraulic
jack on hand.
Activity took place behind the crew change building in the Bristol
yards.
