Camp Cars

The bulk of what I've seen of late has been the mobile homes on flats, getting away from the recycled boxcars of old. There was an article by Matt Snell in eith RMC or RMJ within the past year on building these cars in HO scale. They primarily came from Conrail, typically on F30(?) flats. I do believe that he is offering all variants in a laser cut kit form with all of hte parts except the flat car which is available from Bowser or Eastern Car Works, I forget which. The cars NS would have bought and built on ex- N&W and Southern flats of various classes. I've got a shot of one that appears to be an ex-Southern flat taken last July in Kimball, WV.
I too would be very interested in what Mr. Price has to say about the issue. Hopefully when he gets home this weekend, he'll have time to respond.

About a dozen of the camp cars were parked in Shenandoah Junction this fall for several weeks - parked along the access road so we were very close to them & they were very clean & neat & freshly painted.
There was a tank car for water - a generator car - the dormitory cars had A/C & satellite TV dishes - trash containers on another flat car. Looked like a well organized, self contained community on rails.
I see no problem.
