Massive Wall Will Cost Many Thousands
------
Over a year ago the Norfolk and Western began the construction of a great retaining wall along the railroad frontage extending from the division office to the Mercer street bridge. The whole scope of the work was massive. The masonry was composed of enormous cut stone and laid in cement and cost a large amount of money. There are over four thousands yards [sic], and the expenditure will be between forty and fifty thousand dollars. The wall will be completed by spring.
