Tidewater Buys Small Virginia Road
------
A Newport News dispatch says, "It was learned today that the Tidewater Railway Company has secured control of the old Farmville and Powhatan Railway, which gives it a right of way from Farmville to Bermudas Hundred, just above the City Point on the James River.
It is believed that the line will be built from West Virginia coal fields to Bermudas Hundred, and that temporarily the freight of the road will be barged down the James River to Newport News and Norfolk, at both of which points the Tidewater holds options on piers and terminal property.
It is said that the topography of the Bermuda Hundred section is favorable for bridging the James River at that point, and it is believed here that track of the Tidewater company finally will come into Newport News.
