Rate War Between the Coal Roads

    Chesapeake and Ohio railroad and the Norfolk and Western have made a reduction on the freight rate of steam coal from the mines to the territory included in the Cincinnati district.  The reduction is fifteen cents on the ton, but is effective only in the Miami Valley.
    The reduction is made to meet the Louisville and Nashville cut, which was made on nut and slack coal several weeks ago.  The reductions of the Chesapeake and Ohio and the Norfolk and Western are on steam coal only.
    Coal men of Cincinnati and vicinity are jubilant over the action of the two biggest coal carrying roads entering Cincinnati, and many seem to think it is the beginning of a bitter rate war.
