Eight-Hour Day

Notices were posted in the Norfolk and Western shops yesterday
morning that beginning Tuesday the men would commence work at 7 a.m.
and quit at 4 p.m., making eight hours per day, instead of nine, as
heretofore. This order applies to all departments, but it is
understood that it is only temporary, and is due to slack of work at
the present time. The force at the shops is being constantly added
to, and instead of men being laid off, they are being put on.
