The bridge where the VGN spanned  the South Branch was
known only as Southern Branch -- no number.  The original
VGN bridge was deemed to be a menace to navigation and
was replaced by the Army Corps of Engineers.  Further
upstream, near the ship yard, the N&PBL crosses South
Branch.  After "S" Tower in Suffolk closed, the bridge
tender at "7" controlled the railroad crossings on the main line at
Suffolk.  Heresay, but the bridge-tender now is supposed to
control the line to Sewells Point.
 
Kitty Hawk, as in Darr (sic) County ?  You must have to
drive 60 miles before you even see a railroad. Belcross ?
Ferrell Siding ?
