"A local swimming pool off of US-11 now resides
near where the grade runs south from the stone piers."

Ron,
    There was a spur off of the N&W somewhere in this general area. I will 
guess that it branched off in the area that we call "Ball's Hole" at about 
MP H216.5. I too would like to know more.
