Jane-
I was able to corner Mr. Dollman this morning. He said that
he remembered very little about the farm at Ivor because
his father bought his own farm in western Dinwiddie County
when he was seven. That's when the family moved to
Petersburg (about 1923). He noted that N&W closed the
farm after World War I.
One of the farm's projects was to cut timber and turn
it into excelsior.
Regarding Zuni and the Blackwater River -- there's an account
in the March / April 2003 issue of The Arrow you might find
interesting. It was related to me by Henry Nase, a native of
Myrtle, a telegrapher, and a dispatcher who became N&W's
Manager of Operating Rules.
