BIG EXCURSION NEXT THURSDAY

N. & W. to Land Crowd at Jamestown for Opening of Fair

People living along the line of the Norfolk and Western railway will have an
opportunity to be present at the opening exercises of the Jamestown Exposition
next Friday.
The Norfolk and Western will run a special coach excursion on Thursday, the
train starting from Bristol at 4:45 p.m., and arriving in the the Exposition
grounds before breakfast Friday morning. People who avail themselves of this
excursion will be in the grounds when President Roosevelt and his party arrive,
and will witness the opening of the big fair. The special train bearing
Roanokers and others who patronize it, will leave the Exposition
grounds at 7:30
o'clock on Saturday evening. This will not only give the
excursionists two whole
days at the Exposition, but will give them a chance to see the President.
The first two days of the show will be among the most notable days of the
Exposition, and no doubt the territory traversed by the Norfolk and
Western will
be well represented.
The train will leave Roanoke at 10 o'clock Thursday night. The fare from
Roanoke will be $5, from Christiansburg $5.65, from Radford $5.90, from
Wytheville $6.60, from Marion $7.15, from Abingdon $7.75, and from Bristol $8.
Stop will be made at all stations and the railroad people will leave nothing
undone to contribute to the comfort of parties who take passage on the train.
