RAILROAD NOTES

Bristol, Va. Feb 21 -- It became known here recently that Bristol
will be the southeastern terminus of a railroad which is to be built
from Fullerton, Ky., on the Chesapeake & Ohio, through eight Eastern
Kentucky counties to the Virginia-Kentucky border and on to Bristol.
The new road will be known as the Kentucky North & South Railway, and
it is said to be backed by wealthy Eastern capitalists, whose names
have not been divulged.
Representatives of the company are now said to be engaged in
procuring rights of way for the new road along the proposed route,
and it is announced that actual construction work will begin in the
spring. Preparations have already been made to protect a number of
strategic points and coveted rights of way.
The new road will be 200 miles in length and will penetrate the
rich mineral and timber sections of Eastern Kentucky and Southwest
Virginia, opening up a wide area of hitherto inaccessible mineral and
timer lands, believed to be of boundless wealth.
