I happened to have August Thieme's The Norfolk and
Western ... As I knew it! to hand.

He refers in Chpater 4 Into the Mountains Points West
of Bluefield to:

24 x Class LC-1 locos built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in
1914-15, and 4 x LC-2s locos from Alco-Westinghouse
from 1924.
