  Why are the conventions always held during the mid-summer months?  Would it not be better to have the conventions during the fall months so folks can enjoy cooler temperatures and the fall foliage while railfanning the city/town that the convention is held in? 

  Nothing worse than hight temps, high humidity, insects, and a sea of green foliage filling the camera frame.
