If you look at the maps for the north end of the Shenandoah Division 
you will see a similar wooded area at the Maryland end of the Potomac 
River bridge.  The wooded area is between the circa 1880 alignment 
and the present approach to the bridge constructed in 1909.  The last 
time I looked at the tax maps, this plot was still owned by the railroad.
