GP59 #4610 is still around and was used in a small train this past
weekend, when the NC Transportation Museum's E8 #6900 was returned from
Atlanta. We hoped to get pictures this past Sunday during the museum's
on-site train ride but were unsuccessful.

I never thought about it you guys are right. The business train is in
the excursion era tuscan colors. It came through here a couple days ago
with shiny new rebuilt geeps pulling it headed toward Bristol as a
matter of fact. It made me proud to tell my kids "I used to ride a
train like that behind 611!" And, that was the untimate tribute to the
N&W in its day.

Is the Southern lettered GP59 #4610 still around?

Moreman is an old Southern man, came up under Claytor's wing. Is that
reason enough to explain why more Southern stuff?

As for no N&W schemes? The main paint shop for years was Chattanooga
(ex-Southern shop) and when the Southern 100th anniversary rolled around
they weren't about to let it go un-noticed. When N&W's big birthday
rolled around not to long ago there just wasn't a push from the right
areas to get anything done. I know there was one last year for a
Virginian but I guess that fell through as well.

And as for N&W tribute......have you seen the NS Office Car Fleet
recently? The only car left in Southern colors is Marco Polo in
Washington D.C.

Maybe one day we'll see an N&W engine, I'd like to see a Tuscan SD40 or
-2 or maybe bring back one of the skunks since they are all still
around.

Wow! That's really nice. (although I'm not really a fan of the
Southern Ry.)

Why is it they pay homage to Southern with old paint schemes but they've
yet to reletter a locomotive in some sort of N&W scheme?

I know they wouldn't want to rehabilitate a couple of GP 9's for the
business train for obvious reasons, but a tuscan red SD70 or EVO would
look pretty sharp in my opinion. Also, in all fairness, I think they
should have three heritage sets. With Southern and N&W, how about a
Pennsylvania scheme as well? (or my personal favorite, Penn Central!)

I guess you are speaking of the new Fs that NS just purchased from the
KCS?

They picked up the 4 (A-B-B-A) set that had been used on the St. Louis
Dinner Train. The plan is (From Wick Moreman's mouth) is to paint the
set in the Southern's Black Tuxedo Scheme and used on OCS trains.

I haven't seen anything posted here, but, coming down the road last
night I passed something unusual. I understand that Wick Moorman has a
surprise for you.
