The bane of railroad officials was having to move for da good old Comp'ny.

One of the pains attendant to that ritual was having the family's goods moved in a boxcar.

The station agents at both ends of the move would arrange for section hands to do the loading/unloading and possibly the draying.

But the goods, furniture and other chattels usually arrived in splinters, and there was no recourse against the railroad. So much for "Precision Transportation," huh?

I believe this marvellous process was supplanted by the moving van in the mid- to late-1950s.
