Larry,
Dreamland for me was Saturday nights with the big bands and neat date with
several other couples (teenage life at its finest - circa
1956-1965). Of course we had one guy who after sneaking on drink to many
would always take dive off board at midnight in his suit/tux and the
night's entertainment would be complete as he was fished out and escorted
out by the security man. But, they would let him in each time we went back.
Good for laughs and no harm done just a wet back seat in your cloth seated
cars of the 50's.
Traction bridge next to dreamland also. Used for a water line bridge and
lasted until the 1980-90's and taken down when the new bridge was built.
Sad to see the pavilion not rebuilt after burning and I don't have a good
fix on the date.
This traction issue brings up the question of who might have a map of the
line from Coal Grove to Portsmouth as it works its way through IRONTON,
HANGING ROCK, etc.... .
