The following link leads to a pen and ink sketch of Frederick J. Kimball's home on School Lane in Germantown, Philadelphia, as published in Lippincott's Magazine in April 1884.

How would you like to be invited there for afternoon tea with Ma Kimball, or for evening sherry and cigars with F.J. ?

George T. Pearson, the architect, was (according an 1887 article cited on the webpage) also responsible for "the original and remodeled Luray Inn, hotel and railroad station in Roanoke, [and] Mapleshade Inn, Pulaski, Va."

Kimball did not die at his Philadelphia home, but rather at his "country home" in Rosemont, on "the Main Line," ten miles away. I'm still looking for information on "the country home."
