Fires Cleaned at Vicker?

Anyone know if fires were routinely cleaned and ash pans routinely dropped when engines "went in" for coal at Vicker?

Also, wasn't Dry Branch the mid-division coaling point before Vicker was built?  Seems I've heard that, but can't find any notes on it.
