Builders Plates vs Locomotive numbers

Oh, and Allen - they're locomotives, or engines.  Not units.  To us old timers, the word "unit" refers to a diesel unit, or to some, also an electric "unit".  But not steam locomotives.

PLEASE?!?!?!?
