Mr. Bundy sez:

Even on
the N&W there were obvious distinctions between districts and divisions. In
Roanoke, management noted that in 1959, N&W merged with VGN. In 1964,
N&W merged with P&WV, NKP, and WAB. In the not too far distant future, they
foresaw N&W merging with the Scioto Division. No offense intended, Mr.
Smith.

There were a lot of operating department folks who wondered if the 
N&W would ever merge with the Motive Power Department . . .

Harvey Bradley and I were in Ed Burwell's office one day, after the 
N&W/SOU merger, discussing the consolidation of the control centers 
and Ed had Dick Dunlap on the phone.  Dick told Ed that the N&W had 
never merged with the Motive Power Department.
