The Q2 (PRR didn't use the dash in locomotive classes) #6180 tested on the Scioto Division between Williamson and Portsmouth in coal train service. It was not as successful, even though heavier, than the As. Pennypacker often gets his facts wrong, and PRR didn't try to unload either class on N&W.

The Locomotive Cyclopedia Vol. II arrived this past week. Another excellent book from Hundman Publishing.
A couple of things to note.;
1) On page 242 regarding the PRR T-1, Bert Pennypacker writes "Pennsy tried to unload both the T-1 and Q-2 duplexes onto the steam-conscious (at that time) Norfolk and Western, but the two demonstrators were quickly returned".
Any comments? Where was the Q-2 tested?
2) Look at the section on the Y3. Check out the damage done to the low pressure cylinders in several picture. Looks like they were playing somewhere that they shouldn't.
