For those interested in World War II history Hickam's TORPEDO JUNCTION is an 
excellent book on U-boat operations off the east and Gulf coasts of the US. 
The enormous number of sinkings caused oil and gasoline traffic to be diverted 
to the rails burdening an already strained rail system. But they moved it!
