Mr. Hylton,
The streamline castings were designed to look like J's but these engines were classified as K's.  J's were Northern type with a wheel arrangement of 4-8-4 while the K's were Mountain types with a wheel arrangement of 4-8-2.  They were also quite a bit older and the streamlining was not done until after WWII.  If you would like to know more, keep on corresponding, but I didn't want to go into information overload.   I grew up a couple of hundred yards from the N&W tracks in Rileyville. Watching the unloading and loading of mail from Trains 13/14 at mid day has been a special memory of mine.

  My question: The locomotives pulling Trains 13/14, as well as 1/2 (?) during the night, looked like Js. Were they?
