By the way these replies are going, it does look like
GTO's and RR's are related someway or another.  My
first car was a '64 GTO, second one in Montgomery Co.
(VA).  I reversed the 3/4 combination (3 deuces and a
4-speed) noted by Ed King and immortalized by the
Beach Boys, into 4-barrel and a 3-speed.  Still ran
like crazy!  First road trip was to see the final
example of ET&WNC steam in April/May of '64. Nice days
back then.....
